These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the CullKit for Synology Photos application (“App”) and the associated website at https://cullkit.com/.

By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not install or use the App.
2. Description of Service
CullKit is a mobile and desktop application for iOS and macOS that allows users to browse, rate, and manage photos stored on a Synology NAS (Network Attached Storage) device via the Synology Photos API. The App connects directly to the user’s own NAS; no data is stored on idyation GmbH servers.
Core features include folder and album browsing, star-rating and culling workflows, thumbnail caching for offline access, and a full-screen gesture-based photo viewer. Some features require an active Pro subscription.
3. Technical Requirements
To use the App you need:
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 or later, or a Mac running macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later
- A Synology NAS running DSM 7 or later with Synology Photos installed and enabled
- A valid Synology user account with access to Synology Photos
- An Apple ID to download the App from the App Store
The App may not function correctly on jailbroken or otherwise modified devices. Use on such devices is at the user’s own risk.
4. Subscriptions & Payment
CullKit is free to download with a limited feature set. Pro features are available via an in-app subscription:
- CullKit Pro (Monthly) — billed monthly
- CullKit Pro (Yearly) — billed annually; approximately 30% cheaper than the monthly option
All purchases are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store. idyation GmbH does not collect or store payment information. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
To manage or cancel your subscription, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your Apple device. Current prices are displayed in the App at the time of purchase and may vary by country.
Previous purchases can be restored via the “Restore Purchases” option in the App’s settings.
5. Right of Withdrawal
For digital content and in-app purchases made through the Apple App Store, Apple’s own refund policy applies. You may request a refund directly from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. idyation GmbH has no control over App Store refund decisions.
6. User Obligations & Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or modify the App
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any NAS or third-party system
- Use the App to process or distribute content that violates applicable law
- Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Circumvent or disable any security or technical restriction of the App
7. Intellectual Property
All rights to the App — including source code, design, graphics, and documentation — are owned by idyation GmbH or its licensors. Your purchase or subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You retain all rights to your own photos and data stored on your NAS. The App does not claim any ownership over user content.
8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. idyation GmbH does not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, idyation GmbH shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damage to hardware.
idyation GmbH is not responsible for the availability or behaviour of your Synology NAS or Synology’s own services and APIs.
9. Availability & Updates
idyation GmbH strives to keep the App available and up to date, but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We reserve the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time, including free features, with reasonable notice where possible.
App updates are distributed through the App Store. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms published at the time of that update.
10. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the App you acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms is Düsseldorf, Germany, provided you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law.
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution proceedings and generally do not do so.
12. Changes to These Terms
idyation GmbH reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. The current version is always available on this page. Material changes will be communicated through the App or the website. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
